Denis Leary’s Rescue Me Filming in Bushwick

How appropriate for a TV show about firefighters to be filming an episode in burny old Bushwick. Starting yesterday I was getting tips that they were closing streets, from Jefferson Street and Evergreen to Starr and Irving, for Denis Leary’s Rescue Me. The production trucks are parked on the entire block of Central between Troutman and Jefferson — I’m sure the filming will be done in the more interesting-looking Starr/Irving area. I’m the back lot. But if you see Leary, send a photo my way.

  1. Bushwick Dill Says:

This morning when I was going to work they stopped me from crossing the street for like 2 minutes even though nothing was happening. Then they told me I could cross after nothing at all had happened. There was another Bushwick resident who appeared to be drunk who was not taking it very well at all and was muttering unintelligible threats at the key grip or best boy or whoever’s job it is to stop people from crossing the street.

They did a 1-day shoot over by Woodhull Hospital last week, had Marcus Garvey and Ellery as no parking zones

  3. Dresden Says:

You don’t have to stop. They can’t touch you. I’ve had to literally go through sets to get to where I’m going on time - and they bitch and moan but really can’t do anything.

I’m on the fence about their control of pedestrian traffic. They rent the city streets - probably for not enough than my time is worth.

They tried to stop me and my dog from going back home after our walk this morning! And they weren’t even filming! I had to tell 3 or 4 different people that yes, I live here, I’m just trying to go home! They asked if I could please ‘walk around’ this area they had set up with the fire truck, but I just said no, and they didn’t protest.

Still, it would be exciting to have famous person siting on my block. And another good result is the drunk guy mentioned by Bushwick Dill was distracted from muttering unintelligle things at me and my dog today, haha.

I wonder where everyone is parking…they blocked of a lot.

Ahhh, i knew it was a shoot of some sort, now i know for what.

    Thanks, bloggy!

  6. Dresden Says:

This douchebag was shooting in front of my building, some guy who was on tour with Justin Timberlake.

The crew were such assholes - I asked what it was for, and the director said,

    “It’s a photoshoot.”

I was actually working on the front of the building and the flashes were blinding me, and then I have this stupid nothing giving me attitude.

Sometimes they are saints - sometimes they are fucking garbage. Depends on the operation.

If I see Leary on the street I just don’t know what I’ll do…he’s in my crap-journal for his earlier remarks on kids with Autism and their families and his subsequent so-so apology. Crap journal.

what street are they on ?

  9. carsick Says:

My car was parked on Starr between Wilson and Knickerbocker, and it’s not there anymore, and both sides of the street are empty. I’m assuming it got moved somewhere, but I don’t know where, and there are no signs or numbers to call. The police said they don’t know because they didn’t tow it. Anybody have any idea who I should contact?
