Bushwick Weekend Culture Picks 10/16/08

It’s been a warm week in the midst of a late fall in one wintry economic climate. How are you weathering the season, Bushwick? Seems like the madness isn’t dampening any creative spirits — there’s plenty of arts and culture happening to distract us from the scary news.

Friday, local rockstars Columbia play a “DIY Art Space Dance Party” with Stop Die Resuscitate and The States at Vanishing Point on Meserole.

Saturday, more local faves, Lady Magma are on the lineup at the Shiny Squirrel Variety Show with The Nasties, Ribbons, some burlesque and a variety show! If you want to stick closer to home, Famous dance series Catch 32 is on at the Bushwick Starr (also keep in mind that the BWS annual Halloween bash is right around the corner!). The Addtract Consortium presents the final installment of Monduna for the season featuring their usual fabulous blend of performance, bands, and what-have-you.

Monday, head to Goodbye Blue Monday to check out Manson Family Picnic. They have a Monday night October residency and this Monday share the stage with Drew & the Medicinal Pen, The Psychics and Julie & Kevin Blechdom.
