Bushwick House of the Week: 89 Pilling

89 Pilling is on one of Bushwick’s more beautiful blocks, far at the south end of the neighborhood. Pretty brick and brownstone homes with sharp details are relatively clean and — gasp! — some are landscaped. Large trees shade the block until it gives way to warehouses at the end. There are no interior photos, but the inside is likely as well-maintained as the outside. The transportation situation here is very good: both trains are within about a 5-minute walk. That’s good because you will need to take the train to go almost anywhere fun or tasty.

isn’t this closer to the bushwick-aberdeen L train station? either way, not a bad walk for any of the trains. it’s such a strange area, these streets are oddly nice, but bushwick ave gets really industrial down at its terminus, and not in that swell loft-livin north-bushwick style.

I think this is actually closest to the L train at Bushwick/Aberdeen, but it’s close to Wilson and Chauncey J/Z too. not bad!

Have to agree with Jeremy that this is one of Bushwick’s most beautiful blocks. Pilling St. has also had one of the area’s strongest block associations - and most terrific block parties!
The house works best as a two family, with a duplex for the owner. Even at that, the price is fine. Go for it.
