Bushwick Culture Weekend Picks 8/28/08

Labor Day already? Where has the time gone??? Luckily there’s plenty of awesome stuff to do this weekend to take your brain off the impending end of another Wickity summer.

Tomorrow, Sleep When Dead brings you Slingshot Dakota, Small Arms Dealer and Street Smart Cyclist at Silent Barn.

Saturday check out a “Classic Bklyn Band Round Robin” at Market Hotel. Parts & Labor (who I’ve been dying to see since I caught BJ Warshaw’s amazing side project Shooting Spires), Pterodactyl, Big A Little a, and Modern Bummer will be performing in the round — one song each at a time. Also Saturday, Twin Stumps (hot and noisy) at Asterisk* Art Project and Culture fave DJ Paleboy (aka Scot) in the NK Lounge.

Sunday, catch Brooklyn performance art at its best — English Killslatest show continues with Lydia Bell’s “If At All” from 2-4pm and 5-7pm. Round out your long weekend with some serious drama….Gossip Girl returns (now with a Bushwick character!) on Monday at 8. (Don’t knock it til you watch it.)

I’ll be fleeing town this weekend (as will Jess) so roundups are appreciated, as always. xoxo…
