A Team Effort Brings Fresh Meat

I met up with Kevin (one of my fave Bushwick-based artists) at Factory Fresh this rainy Sunday to check out their latest show, “Fresh Meat.” We were lucky enough to have a chance to chat with gallery co-founder Ali Ha — her energy is amazing and she was so enthusiastic about the artists’ work. The exhibit showcases the work of the Factory Fresh team, a talented, energetic, and devoted crew who helped get the gallery up and running this summer.

The show runs the gamut of photography by Autumn Marie (framed in really gorgeous rustic wood and arranged beautifully on the wall amongst hinged window shades and rusty doorknobs) to the mixed media work of Dresden Pawlick (whom we got to meet for a moment) to performance art (which I was sad to have missed at the opening — scroll down for pics). The tour was complete with a peek at some awesome huge new works by Ad Deville in the backyard.

Go check out the show (up through 8/17) and mark your calendars for neighbor and fellow “Bushwick Gang of Four” gallery English Kills. Their next show Maximum Perception: Contemporary Brooklyn Performance opens 8/16.

I was there for the opening party, my wife and I got the last two free Genee Cream Ales. Good lookin’ show! The artist featured in the photo, Autumn, is a nice young lady who recognized me from the one time before I stopped in.

There was a performance piece, where this lady came out dressed like one of the dudes from The KLF, and folded a pile of paintings down to the size of a matchbook. Weird, yer honor.
