Bushwick: New York’s Taco Epicenter

Blake Royer, of the blog The Paupered Chef, took a trip to our hood the other day to eat tacos. He’s not the first to do so and rave. Never having been much of a Mexican food fan (at least Northern Mexican and what they serve in the US), I haven’t made it a priority to hit Tortilleria los Hermanos, even after having read the NYT review back in August. But Blake’s funny, uncomfortable whiteboy experience makes me feel like I really should take a walk over to this little hole in the wall…before some inspector finds out it has none of the proper, well, anything, and shuts it down. It’s real food, something they don’t sell in Manhattan anymore. Rejoice!
