Rest up and suit up, Bushwickers, there are about a gazillion events to choose from this weekend! Friday night get your art on at Ad Hoc’s 5 Identities, 5 Destinations opening and after party at the Wreck Room. If your tastes run more toward the spicy literary vein, why not check out the Poetry Brothel at Papa B Studios. It’s the “first event of its kind” — with poets playing “whores,” visitors playing “customers,” and the front all done up as “part saloon and part salon, offering a full bar, blackjack table, live portrait painting, exhibited artwork, tarot card readings, and live music.” That is a high-concept mouth full. Please, please report back.

Saturday, music fans have two full line-ups to choose from at Silent Barn and Bodega. Do-goodery and art are on the menu at 3rd Ward’s Good Wood, an auction of custom skate decks and party. Neither Jess nor I has checked out Dubai: Brooklyn, but I’m getting curious. What’s it like folks?? From a bit of google stalking, it seems huge, arty, packed and really toasty. The price tag is a deterrent for me ($15 w/rsvp, $20 without), but I guess that’s not so bad if you are in for 12 hours of “seven month art party adventure” and free vodka & watermelon drinks before 11.

Next Wednesday the 30th, head to the NK Lounge for a release party for the “Welcome to Bushwick” compilation CD. Local stars (including Pass Kontrol & Buffie Gilbert) will be playing some chill jams and $1 from every drink will support the album. Get it here and listen to it in the “latest” column on the right.
