Bushwick House of the Week: 86 Cooper

86 Cooper is a completely trashed two-family at the far end of Bushwick. The block itself is actually quite leafy and somewhat well-kept, and pretty convenient to both the L and J subway lines. If you have the know-how and extra scratch to fix a place up, you could unlock a bit of equity from this cute little house that’s just down on its luck. The price is certainly right.

Wow - this house reportedly sold for $466,000 less than 3 years ago. Somebody bit off more than they could chew. Unfortunately, this reality check has hit way too many speculators in our neighborhood.

Danger Will Robinson! House is next to a church! Danger!

of course, the church might fold and then you’d be okay, but it’s a risk. we moved into a place with a yard that faces the back of a church but it was thankfully defunct. then about 6 months ago it got a new, loud and not especially tuneful congregation. guess when the economy goes south, people head for the steeple!
