Bushwick Apartment Roundup 7/9/08

$1350 — 2br rr: Wow. This place is choked with charm — moldings, old floors, clawfoot tub, original violet bathroom tile, French doors. Convenient to transportation, basic shopping and food. Considering the price, too, this place is awesome all around.

$1450 — 2br: Lots of funky details in this apartment in the pretty Irving-Putnam-Halsey area south of Myrtle — look at that archway! Parquet floors, bay-front windows, large kitchen, and cheap. Could use some fresh paint but is otherwise adorable.
Jefferson and Irving | street view | Halsey L

$1250 — 2br: Nothing special but decent enough and cheap, in a solid-looking building. It’s at the end of Bushwick but only one block up an attractive street from the Wilson L. Hint: the locals call it mow-fat, not moffit.
Central and Moffat | street view | Wilson L/Chauncey JZ

$2300 — 3br: It’s interesting how owners are putting in far more work to apartments far from the “hot” area of Bushwick — this place has a kitchen with Viking appliances and a built-in water filtration system. They’re really trying to lure you guys farther south.
Bushwick and Schaefer | street view | Halsey J

$1500 — 2br: Where the hell is this that you “enter through a courtyard of cherry, Japanese maples, and young grape trees framing a pretty fountain”? The back lots of Bushwick buildings hold many unknown wonders.
Troutman and Wilson | street view | Morgan L/Myrtle JMZ/Central M

Bushwick wannabe: Hell, hell, hell no. Vernon and Tompkins is 100%, without a doubt, impossible to deny, Bedford-Stuyvesant. By a good 2/3 mile.

Helpful hint: There were too many to bother listing this week, but if something is listed “Bed-Stuy/Bushwick/E. Williamsburg” or some combination including “Bed-Stuy,” you can be confident it is just in Bed-Stuy, or at least on the Bed-Stuy side of Broadway. I have stopped saying it’s a Bushwick wannabe if it’s half a block from the Myrtle JMZ — whatever we have to say about it, at this point it seems to be — culturally at least — considered Bushwick.

Isn’t this the second or third time the place with the violet tile has been listed in the last six or nine months? At least that’s my recollection. Isn’t that odd?

    Hey Mopar:
This apartment is in a 6 family building. I have rented at least 2 of these apartments in this building (which is why the rent is so low, they are rent stabalized) probably in the past 6-9 months. The purple tiles are the original tiles and the same exact bathroom is in at least 18 bathrooms, 3 buildings that are my listings.. therefore not so odd ;> and you will probably see the purple tiled antique bathroom again in the next 6-9 months.
