Rowdy Bingo at the Wreck Room

For one night every week, bingo fans of Bushwick head to the Wreck Room, an auto-mechanic’s wet dream of a bar located at the corner of Flushing and Evergreen. With wall decorations made up of old car parts and seats from the back of reclaimed minivans, the Wreck Room’s vibe is unexpectedly welcoming. I came in shortly after 9pm, the official start of Monday Night Bingo, and grabbed a spot at a corner seat with what I was hoping to be a sure winner. But yet, in the end, B-I-N-G-O proved elusive as ever.
It was a rowdy hour. There was some friendly trash-talking across the bar, a few lost balls, and an impromptu wrestling match. But in the end, it was the rewards for bingo that mattered -– the winner got a choice of a beer or a shot, complements of the bar. I just bought a few $3 High Lifes and ate my losses up with some BBQ wings and a basket of crazy good calamari. This past winter saw the opening of the Wreck Room’s kitchen, and then last month, they started delivering. With that, they now offer up delicious competition for the old area standby, Life Café. I’d highly recommend a visit for either Monday night bingo, or for one of their weekend “What About Bushwick” parties. It’s a fun bar with some rowdy bingo, cheap drinks, and a great new menu.

any bingo that gives away free tequila is good in my book–not to mention the apples to apples pick up game that followed!
