No Maybe About It: Yes! Something Cool

I stopped by the “Yes No Maybe” building on my way home today, and talked to the owner, Jeffrey. He was out there sweating his balls off with the workers, fielding all kinds of questions from passers-by. When it was our turn to talk to him — yes, we waited our turn! — he enthusiastically began gesticulating and gabbing about all the cool stuff he wanted to do there. The big end-side opening he hopes to run as an outdoor window serving all kinds of summer foods that don’t require cooking (to avoid overbearing city fire certifications). He also talked of the possibility of outdoor movie screenings and BBQs.

The grounds are planted with berry bushes, vegetable plants, herbs, and vines positioned to grow into a wall which will attract birds. He hopes to have a beer license soon and — ready? — to be open in the next three weeks or so for whatever it is he decides to do there.

Summer is gonna rock in Bushwick.

The fact that a brick oven pizza place and this place are opening,in the same vicinity, makes me think Is should spend more time over in “Morgantown”.

I also think Bushwick will be a decent place for a pub crawl this summer.

I remember looking at this property when it was for sale - it was in real bad shape. Odd shaped lot, and in an industrial section.

So what exactly is it going to be….restaurant, art space w/ food……I really hope it is good….places around the montrose/morgan area often seem sort of half assed….

Mr. Kraayon - has montrose cafe or the columbian cafe opened yet? I have been on vacation all week and just got back into town.

I don’t think the owner even really know what it’s going to be. We’ll just have to wait and see. Again, I’m sure that whatever it is, it will be fun.

  8. Mr. Kraayon Says:

The Columbian Cafe is up and running, but I think they have a bit more to do to make it a fully functional cafe and bakery. Right now, the production is bare bones.

Got an apple tart at Pan Cafe saturday..it was great!

Hope the Montrose Cafe spot opens soon.

  10. Jeremy Says:

    Where is Pan Cafe?

  11. Armstrong Says:

Where are any of these places? How bout putting a “restaurant section” on the blog?

  12. Jeremy Says:

    Good idea.

Guys, Pan Cafe is the name of a Columbian Cafe/Bakery that opened recently on Graham Ave BW Mckibbon and Seigel I believe. Seems like a soft opening as they had only about a third of their cases full, but as I mentioned I tried out a tart and it was really good. I also like that you can see right into the baking area. Seems like a decent place.

Montrose Cafe was a shortlived spot on Montrose BW Humboldt and Graham that is re-opening under a new name and owner.

A restaurant section would be fantastic.
