Bushwick Apartment Roundup 5/7/08

Dear apartment hunters: when you call on apartments you see here, please mention you saw it on BushwickBK.com!

$2200 — 3br: It’s pricey until you factor in that every single utility is included, even wireless internet and cable. And at 950sqft it’s huge! Nice paint job, big kitchen, has a pretty yard out back, too. Just a few blocks in any direction to all of Bushwick’s stuff to do and eat.

$5900 — loft: Okay, I know the price seems outlandish, but it’s a two-level, 2000sqft loft. Yeah, they went cheapo on the kitchen and it really is a depressing contrast with the loft’s total fabulousness. But this place is insane — look at the views, the light, the floors, the sheer space. It has eight bedrooms carved into it right now, but you can change that as you please. I have no idea what the significance of “where Brooklyn at?” is.

$1500 — 2br: This is newly renovated, not constructed, despite the ad’s claims. There are no new buildings I can think of on Knickerbocker directly facing the park. That said, it’s a decent place and has views of the park. Good enough, but so far, not impressed with the parkfront renovations I have seen.
Knickerbocker and Starr Jefferson L

$1350 — 2br: Good price for a two-bedroom that’s not a railroad. Super location close to Knickerbocker’s stores and park. Not a fan of the floors but they’re passable, and it has a cool old iron fireplace and other wood details.
Suydam and Wilson Morgan or Jefferson L/Myrtle J/Central M

$975 — 1br: Cheap! Ridgewood! Cute and very basic.
CATS OK Seneca and Putnam Seneca M/Myrtle L

Bushwick wannabe: Patchen and Decatur!? Not by 5 loooooong Bed-Stuy blocks is this Bushwick.

That fella Seth with the 8br ad should be avoided at all costs.

  2. petebfd Says:

    can you elaborate?

  3. Jimmy Legs Says:

2000 feet doesn’t really seem like enough space for how much rent they’re asking. i dunno, i never lived in a loft with 7 other people, doesn’t seem like it would be worth it. plus you need 3.5X the rent to move in, that’s over $20,000! maybe i’m out of touch but what’s the target demographic for this? the mythical trustafarian who wants to slum it for a year?

  4. Jeremy Says:

    Jeez, I didn’t see the 3.5x rent part. That’s a downpayment.

  5. ricmac01 Says:

Gosh. You gotta be rich to live in Bushwick these days? Guess that’s why there’s six empty houses and one empty lot just on my BLOCK. This is silliness.

  6. Matt Says:

heh. That’s rediculous. $5900? Lemme guess. one bathroom, no ventilation. 7 other roomies, if not more. One tiny water heater. Good luck.

And uhm, I call BS. Where’s the shot of the spiral stairs? What’s it actually laid out like? total craptacualr kitchen. That many roomies and that little cupboard space. This place is a nightmare waiting to happen unless every last person is anal and fastidious with their cleaning and grooming habits.

  7. pixie Says:

I’ve seen other listings of his and they always seem insane. I have a 1000 sq feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and only 1 roommate for $1600. Those bedrooms must be tiny and probably have little or no closet space. Sounds like a nightmare.

  8. Jesse Says:

That’s almost $3/sq ft.!! For that quantity of space and that shitty a kitchen I’d say it’s worth no more than 3500 and that’s being generous. Also, I’ll second the comment about Seth.

  9. Scottie Says:

Shouldn’t they pay you $5,900 to live in Bushwick rather than vice versa? You could get a ridic place in the LES for that.

  10. MoyJoy Says:

    LOL!!!! Where’s Brooklyn At… it’s Biggie Smalls… Notorious B.I.G.

  11. Jeremy Says:

Yeah I got that, I just don’t know wtf it has to do with a frat-douche loft for $5900.

  12. vertigo Says:

Ugh. I’m sure there have been many parties there, as the ad says. I’m pretty sure i’ve been to that loft (art dorms?), actually, and I’m pretty sure what made it good was that it wasn’t some douchebag whose parents are paying 5900 so he and his friends can get stoned, look for pussy, tag some shit, wake up, rinse, repeat. Fuck you Seth, it was assholes like you that made me feel like Williamsburg was becoming a bridge and tunnel mecca
