Life in Bushwick, Brooklyn -- Bushwick blog

Welcome to the New BushwickBK.com

A several-week redesign is finally finished, and today we’re launching the new look for the site. But it’s not just a pretty face — it’s also more functional.

Only the latest post is displayed on the main page, surrounded by other bits of content. The “latest posts” area shows you the five latest blog posts, and the last comment on any post. Below that are our feature sections, among them real estate, the cooking column (soon to be expanded), Bushwick Culture, and the Food and Drink section. The most recently updated sections will display above the others. Don’t worry, you can still view the blog in the traditional linear way by clicking “blog” in the navbar.

Everything else is hopefully intuitive and obvious — and attractive! Please feel free to post suggestions for improvement, and please let me know of any glitches.

Local businesses should consider joining new advertiser Weichert Realtors Property Works, a local Bushwick real estate agency, for exposure on our pages.

If you like the new site, you have Randall Randall of Randall Squared to thank. I came up with the design and layout and did the graphics, but he actually did all the coding and hacking of WordPress, and did a beautiful job of it. If you require web services, make sure to check him out.

Enjoy!

    congrats jeremy!

woah. That requires much more width than I usually work with. The business map and ads on the right are clear off my screen. The Google ad is even further left in a column by itself. Aside from that the re-design looks good!

Is there a way to read the site in scrolling format, like a normal blog? I just wanna scroll through the new posts until I get to the stuff I’ve already read, not click through headlines trying to figure out what’s new.

Congrats…looks great! Getting better and better I’d say.

I think it’s great. It’s easier to get to some of the older posts this way. The categories on the sidebar and above will help “passers-by” get more info out of the blog. The width works for me, and I like that the maps and calendars now have more room and are therefore more readable.

I think its much better and I can still read the blog normal if I want to. but I like the sections.

I like it, only thing is that the font size is so small….and it can’t be manipulated larger using “view”, and then “change text size”.

ha i was gonna just say i like the smaller font size. under mozilla/firefox the text size can be changed.
