Bushwick Clicks 4/14/08

Psych! Nothing happened this week. There are pretty much no Bushwick blogs to link to, and there’s no interesting news. It makes me wonder if I should even bother with this. Do any of you actually read or like the Bushwick Clicks posts?

    i don’t think you have to do it every week, esp if there’s a lack of worthwhile sites to link to/make fun of. post when the muse strikes!

    Oh, oh, I totally read them. Helps me keep up my disdain for my stereotypical suburb.

    I was walking down Broadway and between Jefferson and Cornelia I saw a naked white male mannequin leaning on the street pole. I thought to myself “that’s not someting you see everyday” and thought about taking a picture for your blog. But I didn’t. The thought of pulling out my camera in that particular spot didn’t seem like the best idea…. but I thought about it. That’s gotta count for something.

    As a male in Bushwick, I received more cat calls than in the last 3 days than in the last year of living here. Both sexes are hooting and taking note …. what is going on? Perhaps this occurrence can fill a post or two?

    Look, guys, there are zero Bushwick blogs out there. If you write your own, and it’s about something interesting, I’ll link to it. OR, you can send your writings to me — as I keep saying, I am looking for a variety of posters here.

    Are you kidding? Did you not read the NYT real estate section this week with its lead story on renters affected by the mortgage crisis? Two most horrific examples — with photo of hovel apparently made of driftwood and caving in — were both in Bushwick. Never mind that the cases had not much to do with the story. Landlords had disappeared years earlier, no one knows why, had nothing to do with recent mortgage crisis, but housing made a great photo.

    I saw it, and found it boring. As you said, the cases were peripheral.

    I check it out about 3 times a week. Being a former resident (1950-1970), I like seeing how things are coming back to life in the old ‘hood.

    Who know, I might want to come back for a visit sometime.

    I enjoy your blog and read it 2 or 3 times a week. I am a Bushwick resident formerly from Williamsburg and a single mom. There are very few like me around so it would be nice to meet the neighbors. I have a blog and do write about Bushwick and Williamsburg but I don’t update it enough for it to be compelling.

    Breaking Bushwick News::
    A cat gave birth to 3 really adorable kittens on Woodbine Street. They are all black with blue eyes. Parents are not available for a comment nor for a scratch behind the ear. The triplets are doing well and climbing over each other.

    Yes! Love the links you put in the “Bushwick Clicks”. Kepp themm coming. Of course, it doesn’t mean you have to do it every week if there is nothing going on….some weeks you may have more than you can deal with…others nothing….do it when you have the stuff….it is appreciated!

    Even when you have nothing to say, you still make the Times’ City Room blog:

    HA! Cute!

    NYT is hurting for content, huh? Jeez.
