NYPD Sells Crack in Bushwick
To all my neighbors driven into hysterics over the handful of muggings in Bushwick lately, I’d like to remind you, once again, that the police are not here to help you, they are here to collect a check. And for those whom the check is not enough, they are here to SELL CRACK. Yes, on your streets. Under cover of the badge you so respect.
“Luis Batista, a 10-year veteran, was the second NYPD detective arrested in as many days on corruption charges.” … “an informant claimed he and the cop went to a Bushwick hotel where they had sex with a woman and watched others use drugs” … “Batista was passing confidential information to a drug dealer, Virgilio Hiciano, before he fled to the Dominican Republic…”
This is who drug prohibition benefits: the crooked and the violent, who can make big bucks flouting the law — especially when they are the ones entrusted to enforce it. What a racket they got! It’s not like this is a terribly isolated incident — it’s somewhat common knowledge to those who pay attention that various levels of government are involved in the drug trade, especially cops on the local end, and the CIA on the international end.
As easily as you can say that this guy is an anomaly by which I shouldn’t judge the entire force, I can say that the “I became a cop to help people” dude is just as rare. Most just want a job where they can bully people and from which they can’t be fired.

You’re an asshole. Suddenly the entire 38,000+ member force is indicted because of a bad apple? If only 1% of the force is bad that’s still over 380 officers. Given the history of this town and how it operates, just 1% being bad would be a miracle.
Regardless, why don’t we apply this to your profession? The way the NEA sells it, all teachers are there for the children. I guess the infamous “Rubber Rooms don’t exist in the NYC school system. However, despite the pathetic performance that system has cranked out over the last forty years at the expense of inner city minorities, I’m sure as hell not going to indict every teacher in it.

Jeremy, why didn’t you tell me you started teaching?

I did not indict the whole force — I said there are about as many bad apples as good apples. The rest are neither — a bunch of fat slobs who do just enough to get a check.
Uh, I’m not a teacher, you fucking moron. I’m perfectly fine with saying that teachers are similar — most take a job for which you don’t need a fancy degree, to collect a check from a job from which they almost can never be fired. A small percentage are exceptional and really are in it to help people, and an equal amount are pedophiles.

He was working in the 90 precinct. Bushwick is the 83. Williamsburg is the 90. He worked in Williamsburg.

And I seriously don’t like your attitude toward cops, Jeremy. They are fat, useless slobs, agreed - however they are underpaid, usually below-average intelligence, and almost absolutely always below-average height (giving them the Napolean-syndrome)…
but some of them are actually out there doing a good job, trying to help. That lasts about a year and then they just show up for the pay check, making collars when the sarge pushes them.
so have a heart - they’re only human!

How about we take all the cops out, and then see how you fair in Bushwick.

“Fare,” I assume you mean. If I get a proportional amount of taxes back, I’d love to hire a Wackenhut to patrol my block. I’d get WAY more bang for my buck, and they are answerable to their employers — a huge improvement over public employees.

You can take the cops out of Bushwick…. but you can’t take the Bushwick out of… Wait, that makes no sense.
Remove the cops from B-wick but give me access to carrying a gun. Then I’d say - it’s a go.

I have been a member of the NYPD working in Bushwick for over 17 years . The person who said half of the cops are bad and selling drugs is obviously afraid to be a cop himself. I worked in Bushwick when the rooftops were a place to shoot guns and bricks were thrown down upon us. After many years of crime fighting by the NYPD today you can open coffee shops and art galleries. Crime is still a problem but its nothing compared to the early 90s . Get out and vote and do what you can to make sure standards are not lowered and pay is increased for your Police Dept who Protect those they do not know and serve them as well . One bad apple dont spoil the whole bunch .!!!! Bring back CPOP . Good cops dont like bad cops either

post hoc ergo propter hoc — try again
“Get out and vote and do what you can to make sure standards are not lowered and pay is increased for your Police Dept”
Vote for increased pay!? Wow. The government is the only organization who gives the most money to its various divisions when they fail. How about: consider us your clients and don’t treat us like dirt, and then maybe ask for a raise. Jesus.
The above comment is a pile of logical fallacies and catch phrases, but I expect nothing less from…hm, maybe I should just shut up now. I don’t want to get protected and served in the head with a nightstick.
