Northeast Kingdom Lounge Opening Soon

The rumor is confirmed: Northeast Kingdom is opening a lounge in their basement possibly next week. I saw the owner lugging heavy stuff down into the basement hatch last week; an employee told me it will be “cute.” This is good news for those of us who loathe clubs and are a little tired of bars. A cool lounge with music you can easily talk over, where you can booze it up with friends in a relaxed atmosphere — at least that’s the vision in my head. We’ll see how it pans out. Don’t fuck up, NEK!

NEK has a good track record, and at this point we’d take anything. It doesn’t cost a lot to decorate in a cool, funky way, just look at GBM.

Good news, though. Be sure to update the business map showing this place now has a lounge.

Thank god and good to see more is opening up. My girlfriend spent some time in Bushwick and I loved the place. Hopefully the trend of nice resonably priced places where everybody knows your name(if that is yout thing) will continue. Bravo!!

yes, as businesses open up it will be a smaller knit community where they should know you.

    Yeah I bet.

    BushwickBK bumrush @ NEK Lounge!

What’s the name of the place? “NEK Lounge”?

Was there on Sat night. I have to say I didn’t expect to see a stairway leading downstairs when I walked in. It’s cozy down there and apparently will feature a dj? What really struck me as strange was that they were checking ID’s at the door. Sign of the times??? Will have to wait and see.

I haven’t been to the lounge, but my friends and I have only had bad experiences (separately) at the restaurant.

Why is our experience so different than everyone else’s seems to be?

I live right down the street and have enjoyed eating at NEK since moving into Bushwick. I’m excited about this lounge. I was there last night. Pretty shocked to see how many people were absolutely wasted on a Tuesday night, but it was fun. The staff was really cool down there, but when a guy started crashing into people and falling down the owner didn’t hesitate in giving him the hook. Made me want to stay. Oh yeah, and when the cd started skipping the staff hooked up a patron’s iPod and blasted the new Radiohead. NEK did not fuck this up.

I too live right down the street from NEK, and have eaten there many many many times since it opened. Aside from a couple of the expected growing pains of a new place(slow service once, long wait once) I have had nothing but excellent experiences there. I’m very excited that they’ve grown, and can only hope that more places come to join them. The lounge seems cool, and the owners have been very prompt in helping me to set up a small party there. I wish them the best!
