Bushwick Apartment Roundup 10/11/07

#1 — $1200 — 2br: Cheap! At the end of the world there by the Wilson L, but I like the space’s look with all that brick.
Decatur and Wilson Wilson L

#2 — $1300 — 3br: Proceed with caution: why is this so damn cheap? It’s renovated, it’s on an attractive block near Irving Square, and we’re led to believe it’s a full three bedrooms. Hmm.
Knickerbocker and Eldert Halsey J or L

#3 — $1045 — 1br: Wow, cheap. Floor-though apartment in an okay area.
Schaefer and Wilson Wilson L

#4 — $1650 — 3br: A very nice, basic place, from what I can tell. Newly renovated, wood floors, very light — 1000sqft!
Weirfield and Central Halsey L

#5 — $1700 — 2br: Nice new renovation, exposed brick, the kitchen is spare but modern, though they could have wiped the counters before taking a picture. Attractive immediate area with no projects or fug new construction.
Hancock and Irving Halsey L

Bushwick wannabe: Malcolm X and Marion — that’s still Bed-Stuy.

#1 looks good for the money even though the location sucks, #4 & #5 are a lot of money to pay to live off the Halsey L. You could get the same space around williamsburg proper for just a little more money maybe.

Ridgehooder, can you send us some proof of the apartments in Williamsburg for a little more money. I’ve priced Williamsburg and haven’t found anything for the same space in these prices ranges.

What bad about the location in #1 it’s quiet and peaceful there, and all of apartment rounds up have been featured in this special edition of SoBu!

the trimwork in #1 is nice, and the floors are nice although a little on the dark side. not crazy about seeing the fridge from the living room, but oh well. limited cabinet space, but nice front paneled door.

SoBu is still be seen as the tail end of things, and the butt of jokes. When will this poor child stop being picked on.

wow, everything is off the halsey now? Were there no closer apartments in Bushwick (morgan, jefferson Dekalb?) I guess it’s past apartment season.

  4. jay Says:

Yes, it’s all about the Halsey stop, and SoBu these days. Cheers to jgonz, Jimmy, Bushwick Lou and rest of you representing this part of the hood. morgan, jefferson, and dekalb don’t have as many choices. Vertigo, what months do you consider prime apartment season.

I think Bushwick apartments are larger, although there is mention about square footages ever.

Love the brick wall in #1 too, even though it looks a little patched up. Looks like they covered up a fireplace or some secret passageway tunnel. Could you imagine an underground railroad here! Think of the history and historical preservation possible!

#2 has too few photos and yes the price is cheap, although don’t rely on all three bedrooms being that great, see the picture on the right - that’s an odd corner.

#3, what’s with those tiny pictures. What is this a doll house? Why is this in an okay area, when #1 is “at the end of the world” I think this is a great corner of bushwick.

#4 is nice, great, price light and airy, and at least some sf mentioned.

#5 is nice. Is that all the cabinets you get in the kitchen. Hope you like to eat out a lot. Love the brick walls - nice and light. The last picture of the brick walls so some ugly thing on it, and it’s too low to hang a picture over it. maybe a good piece of furniture would cover it up. hancock and irving are nice streets.

Vertigo, all the stuff in North Bushwick was crap. I just keep going down the listings until I see something that says “this is good.” I do that five times and then I’m done. If I have the time, I do the ripoff alerts, wtf file, and Bushwick wannabes, but yesterday was crazy for me.

  6. vertigo Says:

well, I consider the summer to be apartment season because students are moving out and moving in and it’s warmer, so more people are willing to show and look.

I wasnt complaining that there was anything wrong with the reporting. I was just trying to see what apartments on my stop were worth ;) im kind of glad that you weed out the xrap foe us, makes these posts a joy to read

  7. Jaybushwick Says:

vertigo, so what’s the worth of your apts. versus those near the halsey J for a studio, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom.

This area seems to be the hot one for SoBu.
