Be Smart, Little Hipsters!

One of my housemates, whom I bumped into on the train today, told me that last night cops were handing out these flyers at the Morgan Avenue L station. “Remember to close and lock your doors and windows when leaving your residence” — Are people moving into this neighborhood really that oblivious? “Put things out of sight before parking your vehicle” — I would do that in the Upper East Side, forget Bushwick.
These bits of wisdom are brought to you by the 90th Precinct.
Thoughts?

Well, it may all seem obvious to anyone who’s spent time anywhere in New York, but–hey, it doesn’t hurt!

I appreciate the effort, but I prefer my police officers to be literate. Case in point - “If it sounds like to good of a deal, it isn’t.” First of all, its “too” not “to”, at least thats what they taught me in elementary school. Second of all, I believe the sentence should go, “If it sounds like too good of a deal, it IS”. Jeez.

Yes. Pepole moving here are that clueless. They don’t have any idea, at all, whatsoever, and it gets worse every year.
It’s interesting that they’re going to lump sales of hot goods with personal safety basics.

Matt, I’d also prefer my plumbers and janitors and painters to be literate but that’s just as much, if not more, of a ridiculous idea than asking a cop to construct a sentence without using apostrophes to denote plurals.

you guys should leave our neighborhood. we dont want the cheese shop to church ratio to be anything better than 1 to 40

Yawn. Your petty insults bore me, basketball man.
Are there a lot of college kids coming to the area? It is back to school time and college kids are fucking retards.

have you guys been to the opera house lofts? i don’t wanna cast aspersions, but the cops need to hand out these flyers in front of that fenced-in courtyard (much to jen and dietsch’s chagrin)

@JL - maybe I should make copies and send them over. Attached to flaming bags of poo.

I’m sorry, what did I miss?
Was it supposed to be sarcastic? If so, sorry.

I don’t know how to explain it to you, Becky. It’s like explaining why my t-shirt that says “Define ‘Girlfriend’” is funny.
August 31st, 2007 at 10:46 pm
Eh, cut me some slack. It was my birthday yesterday. I was suffering from a very special kind of hang over. And no one should joke about sweet, sweet cheese.
September 1st, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Amen to that Becky. I loves me some cheese. The Bedford Cheese Shop is my heaven.

This is how dumb people are. Bushwick Baller is obviously a troll..
Just trying to start trouble. And yes many newbies don’t know how to be safe.
Number one should read!
Take your earbuds out of your ears when walking from the train station to your house at night!!!!

“Take your earbuds out of your ears when walking from the train station to your house at night!!!!”
Pedro, YES - and what gets me even more is when these kids are not only listening to their music but have their faces shoved in a book - completely unaware of their surroundings. Absolutely no common sense.

technically what section of brooklyn would all of you define the Morgan Ave L stop as? (the Bogart btw Seigel and McKibbin side)
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:06 pm
I know the cops want to make their jobs easier but they should just let you hipster scumbags learn the hardway, the way real new yorkers did. you people want that grittiness of brooklyn but without all the violence, just get out of the neighborhood if you can’t deal. Manhattan was once a cool place to hang out in until all these midwest rejects moved in now only the rich are left and there’s nowhere to go on that island. Bushwick has been for a long time Puerto Rican and before that Italian but it has always been an ethnic neighborhood you fuckers have no culture and just jump from one place to the next sucking the life out of the neighborhood, i mean fuck look at parkslope so many parents bitching and moaning making it a safe neighborhood but you never see kid’s playing in the street, shit that’s new york culture that’s how you learn this shit and don’t need some shit head cops telling about safety. These landlords are playing you for suckers, east williamsburg? no such thing there’s a north and a south and even then it’s just williamsburg. using the excuse of “we’re just looking for affordable rent” yeah we’ll tell that to the families that lived there for generations, lost family members to the streets because the city never gave a shit about us poor people, whose landlord see’s dollar signs from you fucks willing to pay double and now forces out a family with no remorse. That’s why natives hate you and tell you get the fuck out because your jusy another slap in the face from a system that never gave a fuck about us and cater’s to you transplant whores.

AP, don’t you think that every group of people that settled in this area for the first time was met with chagrin and disdain by the “natives” already here? This neighborhood has always been a place for transients. Face it, the neighborhood’s changing again, and it will continue to change. Whether you like it or not, despite what happened on Troutman St., people will continue to come here in droves. Matter of fact, what happened last week will undoubtedly bring more people here since any publicity is good publicity. Besides, do you really miss the hookers that used to line Flushing and Wyckoff/Cypress Avenues 20-30 at a time? Or the crack viles littering the street? Or the constant sound of gunshots? It will take a while, but you are seeing the beginnings of a new suburb of Williamsburg…
PS: I DO miss the crazy Fourth of July barrages that occured back in the day, starting 3 weeks before Independence Day. Remember?

AP:
“lost family members to the streets because the city never gave a shit about us poor people”
Like, the city didn’t give a shit about maintaining the streets, so people fell through big potholes?
What would have changed if the city “gave a shit”? Think out your bullshit before you post it. That bit is fucking nonsense.
As for the rest of your post, are you really annoyed that hipsters don’t share an ethnicity and/or don’t care about ethnicity? You lump Italians and Puerto Ricans into one group of happy ethnic hoodies like the Italians loved the Ricans or something. You act like nobody has ever had to move before. At least this time around it’s not at knifepoint.

I could give a reasoned response, or I could be honest.
Blah blah blah bitter bitter blah blah bitter bitter fuck you too.
GodDAMN you are boring. And full of shit.
