Let the games begin.  Whether it’s only a theme or the main event, we’re catering big time to that lovely summer levity.  The opportunity to win yourself some prizes is everywhere this week: dance, sing, dress, or use that memory to get free shit.  And in keeping with our playful spirit, how cool is this?  Welcome, fantasy world.

Tonight

Feeling nostalgic for some of that BOS amazingness?  You are in luck.  Little Skips is taking it all off their walls and into your homes with their BOS Art Show Closing Party.  Prices start at just $20.

Goodbye Blue Monday & The Bushwick Book Club team up once again for a night of A Game of Thrones inspired original music: "For those of you who like your songs like new born dragons — tender, squawking and full of fire."

There’s a Trivia & Spelling Ordeal at Beauty Bar tonight.  Not only is there no cover, but you get two chances to make that bar tab disappear: game times are at 7:15pm & 8:15pm.  And if you join here, you can also win yourself a free drink of the day.  Get smarted while you drink yourself stupid!

BK’s own Palomar, along with I’m Turning Into, Spanish Prisoners and Jeane, all play Shea Stadium.

Friday

It may help expand your spiritual side, or it may just be a giant mindfuck, but either way it’ll certainly be interesting.  More Joy is on at NURTUREart and the curiosity is overwhelming Seriously.  Opening party is tonight, but group sessions go all week long, so sign on up.

3rd Ward has a large-scale hallway installation they’d like you to see, not to mention some complimentary drinks and Spear’s Spears pickles.  Go see the massive yet intimate Building Disaster by Dagmara Genda.

There’s a great line-up of bands performing at Lone Wolf: The Memphis Morticians, Twin Guns and Lovestruck.  Show starts at 9pm with a $7 cover.

The one night only Sky Box Aerial & Variety Show is on at House of Yes.  In addition to the usual acrobatic feast, there will also be smoothies by LoveGirrrrl and a Leo-themed birthday dance party to follow.

And local fave DJ Scot Bowman turns it up at Bodega with some late night music action.  The man has excellent taste.

Saturday

Beginning at 2pm and going all day and night, there’s plenty of time to catch some Peekaboo Barbeque at Goodbye Blue Monday.  Highlights include free entry, 9 bands, cheap BBQ, a hot pants contest at 6pm, and a PBR open bar from 3-4pm.

It’s new season kick-off time at Bushwick Starr.  The rough and ready performance series Catch 46 is on tonight and tomorrow only.  Tickets are $10 at the door.

Bounce Cake, an evening of comedy, music, art, dancing and cake, rolls into Cafe Orwell.

And NYCRavers has a big Finyl Fantasy themed night planned, as they transform The Morgan into a HIGHWIND (Airship of FF7).  It’s a new type of party (they’re calling it RIDE: Radical Interactive Dancing Experience) with "a fully costumed staff, planned and choreographed events, and a crazy storyline that will span multiple events."  Heavy.

Sunday

The neighborhood’s 79th yoga option appears at 3rdEye(Sol)ation, happening every Sunday at 3pm.  "Alex Zaglin of Alex Expressions will be teaching and leading you to a tranquil and calm state of mind while opening various avenues of energy through several versatile salutations."  Class is $10 and open to all levels – you just need to bring your own mat.

I hear amazing things about Anjali’s Indian Food, served up fresh on Sunday evenings at Tandem.  Go try for yourself.

Monday

It’s the final Moviehouse CinemaParque tonight, featuring a site-specific dance film that celebrates Sternberg Park‘s unique community: "Sternberg Dances."

Or go sing your heart out – 90s style – for a chance to win cool prizes with The Kings of Karaoke at Brooklyn Fireproof.

Wednesday

Yes, brain power is involved in game playing; get your chess on at Little Skips.
