Summer is quickly escaping & we’re coping this week with dance. Add to that plenty of art & music, some BARNraising, a brand new bike-in movie series, and that calendar is filling up pretty quick.   Lots of doing to be done around here, friends; have fun doin’ it up.  And for that slice of quiet time, I leave you with The You Trilogy.  You’re welcome.

Tonight

3rd Ward members would like to drink, mix & mingle with you tonight.  Their monthly Wind-Up runs from 7 to 9pm.

DJ Pegasus will be at Bodega.

And you can also catch Shilpa Ray’s bluesy voice & harmonium at Shea Stadium, along with Quilty, the Backpockets, Utopia Park, and Bermuda Bonnie.

Friday

Art, history & activism conflate and make Goodbye Space Shuttle, an artist curated (big) group show opening tonight at Curbs and Stoops.  Help celebrate this late summer homage to the Apollo 11 lunar landing in 1969: “In retrospect, the abandonment of the shuttle program may prove to be as large a milestone as its first launch.  It thus seems appropriate to dedicate an exhibition to the moment.”

The never disappointing Sky Box Aerial Variety Show is on at House of Yes.  Cover is 10, show starts at 9, & the doors open at 8.  Early is key here.

Brooklyn Fireproof is throwing an official BarnRaiser.

Plus The Wonderdonk Bike-in Movie Series kicks off at the beautiful Vander Ende-Onderdonk House!  This B.Y.O.P (bring your own picnic) event has much to offer: Pee Wee’s Big Adventure & the Red Balloon on the big screen, local food & beverages for sale, and a chance to make your own silkscreen print with Bushwick Print Lab.  Suggested donation is $7 with kids getting in free.

And ravers, there’s a Solar Climax waiting for you at The Morgan.  Yes, jello wrestling is included.

Saturday

Art reigns tonight, with things getting dreamy at 950 Hart Gallery, delicately black-and-white at Microscope, and metatemporal at Centotto.

Lone Wolf hosts “Go Go Bushwick,” a good ol’ fashioned dance party, featuring DJ Frijolito & friends spinning the best of 80s, early 90s, New Wave, Indie Pop and Electro Disco.  The partying starts at 10.

Pine Box Rock Shop is the place tonight to hear some rockin’ country music, Brooklyn style.  Start workin’ on your two-steppin’.

There’s also a free rooftop blowout party at 60 Harrison Place: bands, dj sets, video projections, circus antics, and it all begins at 4.

Sunday

Live music is everywhere – pick something.

Tuesday

Hello August & hello Patrick.  Tuesday is the new night to watch the one, the only…
Patrick Swayze Movie Marathon is on at Bodega!  Two different flicks each week, one at 8pm and the other at 10pm.  This is exciting.

And Brooklyn Fireproof has something called Skate Night, where you can search through a huge archive of videos and music all centered around, you guessed it, skating.
