Creep couldn’t have thought up a better musical alias, and the newest series of remixes they curated emphasizes the mood they’re developing. It’s a creepy atmosphere, certainly, but it also creeps into your consciousness, slowly revealing its presence before you realize it’s done so.
With this release, which dropped today, four remixers take on the duo’s most recent single, “You“, which was an immaculately produced but sparse and dragged hip hop R&B cross over. The lethargic violins, echo drenched piano strikes, and eerily presented singing of Nina Sky are all borrowed heavily throughout most of this new collection. But they then take that all into broader areas and add their own unique elements.
It ranges from the skittery future garage of Star Eyes and Jubilee; dubby bass and pitched vocals by Plannningtorock; driving and hypnotic minimal techno from Hannah Holland; and clicks and bleeps from Dawn Golden & Rosy Cross.
