Family Waves by Dinosaur Feathers from Big Ugly Yellow Couch on Vimeo.

Of all the bands playing surfy music right now, none capture the essence of beachy summer fun quite like Massachusetts-based band Dinosaur Feathers. They are the sound of a Carribean island vacation without the tedious reggae rhythms. Your brain will fill in the steel drums that aren’t really there. If not, it can still soak in the sunshine of bright vocals and sweet harmonies. And if the temperature in New York cools to at least that of the average Carribean island, there are hand-clapping cheerful beats to shimmy to.

Dinosaur Featers are playing Silent Barn this Saturday. If you haven’t had a chance to catch Shark? or Gross Relations yet this year, be sure to show up early to see their sets. Parquet Courts and Moonmen on the Moon, Man are also playing. Tickets are $7.
