The blogger behind The Sky Report has been mentioned numerous times in our Culture Picks and even been featured in the Bushwick Chic section, and yet we’ve yet to mention the blog in this space. But he deserves it, so we plucked one of his recent musical picks to shine some extra light on the Report.

Holy Other is a Manchester-based group producing dragged out affairs of ominous attraction. The sound certainly falls in line with our country’s recent interest in goth-styled downbeat affairs. And the discolored, pixelated imagery of global religious ceremonies in the video above for “Yr Love” draws additional parallels. All this makes it no surprise they’re signed to Tri-Angle records, which helped spearhead this sound. But the syncopated percussion of “Touch” displays a more British connection to garage-influenced origins. Both songs were posted on The Sky Report.
