Love is definitely in the air (and plastered all over the shelves), and we’ve got plenty of ways to ready yourself for V-Day.  Need a dress?  Head to a personalized dress-buying event.  Looking for someone to share the night with? We have lots of mingles & mixers dedicated to the beautiful art of the pick-up (speed flirting is here!).  And for those not-so-much in the mood we have some special options for you, too: a Hipstamatic world release, art openings & benefit parties, and a Moviehouse birthday bash. Happy Valentine’s, Bushwick!

Tonight

Head over to 3rd Ward and find out what the brand-new Chunky Lens is all about.  Admission is free and includes the Chunky app, an interactive gallery show, live music and drinks!  RSVP required.

In the Pony Palace/Football, performance group Half Straddle‘s super fun, all-girl football frenzy, opens tonight at The Bushwick Starr: "This new piece is a slyly subversive consideration of gendered roles, sports culture, and performance."  Plus you’ll get to hear Rolling Stones (the forgotten "Black and Blue" album) and Lady Gaga mash-ups played live with the Pony Palace marching band.  I’m sold.

And if you have $6 and want to hear some great live music, I say make it a Silent Barn night.
(just don’t be a dick while you’re there, please.)

Friday

is all about the tunes:

NYC and Baltimore collide at Cafe Orwell‘s weekly Super Coda event, featuring Fester, The Expanding Man, Janel and Anthony, Jon DeWitt, Charlie Rauh and Valerie Kuehne Duo.

Full Service is back at Tandem with a special V-Day & fashion week edition.

Goodbye Blue Monday has a full roster of bands.

Or if you feel like heading to Wburg, Rinsed (that’s quite the flyer, MeanRed) is back at Public Assembly.  Affordable debauchery ($2!) abounds.

Saturday

Treat yourself to a new (20% off) Karina Dress at Brooklyn Based’s Well-Dressed Valentine Party, along with some yummy chocolate snacks and Brooklyn Brewery Local 1 and Local 2.  Sounds like a fun way to shop.

The Project Collective, The Pantry Party, and Brooklyn Fireproof have teamed up for tonight’s one time only charity event, featuring a long list of local artists and musicians. Admission is either $5 or 5 canned goods, and all proceeds help support Make The Road NY.

Still need a date for Monday?  I’m thinking Beauty Bar BK may be the place to pick ‘em up tonight: DirtyNerdy Dance Party is on and promising "lusty, sexy, messy music for you to get lucky to."

Tandem hosts a Particularly Random VDay Special with no cover, DJs til 4am, lots of fog and a balloon drop.

Sunday

Starting us off we have the Valentine’s Eve Speed Flirting Event at Bodega.  For only $10 you get wine, mingling, gift bags, a raffle prize entry and hopefully a hot date for your next night out.  Tickets are still available, but going fast so get on it.

3rd Ward’s Moviehouse turns 4!  Go celebrate with locally made films, video performances, and a pinata.

Tonight marks the closing of Regina Rex’s TEXTURE.TXT show (culminating with a reading and performance by Burbuja), and the opening of What Tornado at Microscope Gallery.

Brittain Ashford & Shenandoah Davis play the NEK Den tonight.  I’m hearing talk of a very raw "Total Eclipse of the Heart" cover…

Plus the Songwriter’s Salon #11 is happening at Fort Useless.

Monday (V Day)

Take in a (new weekly) free comedy show tonight at Tandem — Comedyclipse — which promises the funniest comedians in the world.  There’s only one way to find out…

Or go get Untied over at Brewer’s Mansion.  All I know for sure is it involves throw pillows, one damn good dancer, and a surprise divine DJ — which is more than enough for me.

Tuesday

Unwind with some Lumenhouse Yoga.  Namaste, bitches!  (anyone who gets this reference without googling it should be hanging out at my house on Monday nights)

Wednesday

The usual suspects are here — take your pick (I can’t do everything for you) ;-)
