A Canarsie bound L train killed a man after he was pinned between the platform and train early Sunday morning.

According to authorities who spoke with the Daily News, the victim, who was in his early 20s, was intoxicated when he jumped on the tracks to retrieve his fallen keys at the Halsey St L train station. The train motorman reportedly saw the victim on the tracks but could not stop the train in time.

A witness told BushwickBK the man was still alive when he was pinned but died shortly later when a rescue team arrived. An NYPD Emergency Service Unit arrived on the scene to retrieve the body. Investigators believe no foul play was involved.

The victim has not been identified and was not carrying ID at the time of the accident. A nearby resident who uses the Halsey station said the gap between the platform and train is "very wide."

"I take the L to go to work and I once lost my shoe in the gap at Halsey," the woman said. The Halsey stop was closed for much of Sunday but reopened for the Monday commute.
