Firefighters were forced to dig out snow-covered hydrants as an abandoned building went up in flames this morning.
The two-alarm fire started at a boarded up building on the corner of Stockton St. and Lewis Ave, at Broadway. According to a witness over twenty firefighters and four trucks were on the scene to battle the blaze. Firefighters had to rip off the plywood covering the windows to get inside to fight the flames. FDNY Ladder 108 from Williamsburg was seen hoisting firefighters on the roof of the building.
The Sumner Houses projects, which are located across the street from the blaze, were not affected. No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation

This is terrible, that building could have been restored and housed 6 working familys
No doubt the result of squatting hippies, winos, illegal’s or eurotrash jury rigging heaters or smoking marijuana.
These building are off the grid and have no electric or gas.
Need to deport all of them and throw the slumlords and banks in jail for not maintaining and securing the propertys they hold titles too. Burn and destroy all the dope wile your at it !

Actually that building was nearly inpenetrable (believe me I tried) and had been slated for demolition with the widely known [X] spray painted onto it and such. Within the last month it had begun to be restored. Already the framing, floor joists, and even some new windows had been put into the under-construction building. I lived across the street when this fire happened and had tons of nice pictures too.

I work 1 block away from this location. I would suggest the reporter get the facts straight before publishing. I also recommend Mr Nino also look into getting his facts if any before writing nonsense. 1st, this building was being renovated and for what I could see was near completion. They had new windows installed less than 2 weeks ago. The floors were layed and the walls had some sheet rock. The frames were very noticeable from the outside. The workers looked like freelance homedepot corner pick up help. So, to say the windows were boarded up is not a fact. There were no junkies, no yuppies, no squatters inside just the help. I was there went it went up in smoke. The new windows were up in flames and the entire building went up in red falmes and black smoke from the bottom to the roof top. Can anyone say suspicious fire? That is where the story is! Stop protecting the owner and look for the insurance pay out!

NONSENSE !
The laborers themselves are squatters illegally living & working in this country.
All including the landlord belong in jail for breaking countless laws and doing shoddy work.
These ferel criminals break into this country, steal jobs and have dozens of kids I have to pay for. Schools ae busting at the seams hospitals are closing.
Anbody w aids and obets these criminals belongs should pay huge fine and do at least 3 months in jail.
The workers were squatters I rest my case
