Each week we’ll highlight a different song by a Bushwick band or artist we like. If you would like to have your band’s song considered, you can submit an MP3 here.

Perhaps the most sorely underused instrument in rock music is the accordion. The epitome of quirky, there has yet to be a trend of bands with a dedicated accordion player, which is a shame because it would probably add a lot to the twee folk movement.

Margaret Stutt, the multi-instrumentalist force that is Pezzettino, doesn’t just use the accordion for a one-off gimick, but is herself an accordionist, in addition to being classically trained in piano. In the case of “You Never Know,” the overall effect of the instrument is jaunty and cheerful. This song sounds like spring time, which is really nice in view of all the snow in last couple of weeks. And glockenspiel chorus underscored by whispered vocals is just so happy it could make you believe the sunshine outside is actually warm. We’ll save our skipping until the sidewalks are less icy.
