It’s been a year since the earthquake outside Port-au-Prince, Haiti killed over 300,000 people and left one million others homeless. The country may have fallen out of the news spotlight, but charities are still working to help rebuild the country and send medical aid, including 100 Shows for Haiti.

Embracing the DIY ethic, 100 Shows for Haiti is encouraging people worldwide to throw events to raise money for One Hundred for Haiti. Events are happening around the city, including a show on Sunday at Party Xpo.

Headlining Sunday’s event is Gorilla Biscuits bassist and hardcore legend Arthur Smilios. Smilios will be playing solo, with friends backing him and occasionally singing. No word yet whether we should expect songs from Gorilla Biscuits or CIV or even hardcore at all, so expect surprises. Bushwick alt-country rockers GunFight! are also on the bill, along with intergalactic electro-visual artists Intelligent Dancers, and the difficult to Google experimental group Wet T-Shirt Contest.

Sunday’s Party Xpo show is an early one, 3-7pm. Entry is $5, with money going to One Hundred for Haiti and Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees.
