Brooklyn trio Grooms create interesting textural conflicts within their three-minute songs. Sounds waver between scratched ’90s alt-rock but with sickening drones that ooze like the blood flow from a skin abrasion. There are moments of strange delicacy and calm, immediately off-set by burst of aggressive energy.

In all that energy, there Grooms show amazing control. Primarily, they understand that while washes of noise and feedback can be very stimulating, even pretty, it’s important to keep the indefinable noise contained. As a result, they have something more complex than skittish indie-rock songs but more accessible than the stoner rock and metal that tries to do the same thing.

Grooms are playing Wednesday night at Silent Barn. Also on the bill are Fiasco, Fat Tony, and Bushwick band Shark?. Tickets are $7.
