Athen’s Quiet Hooves is a pop collective that features up to 13 members. In addition to your standard guitar/bass/drums, factor in several keyboard players and a horn section. This spins what would be a simple song into something texturally rich, but not overwhelming. It takes a lot to juggle that many people on stage at once, so if nothing else, it should be interesting to see how they all fit in Silent Barn’s kitchen.
We’ve mentioned Coney Island’s Ava Luna before, their minimalist electronica, soulful rhythms, and huge emphasis on vocals. With four primary vocalists, they’ve not only got a command on harmony, but a real style. Think back to when Lauren Hill sang about “That Thing,” only buzzier.
Also playing are Boston’s Quilt; Widowspeak; Total Slacker sideproject, Web Dating; and Quiet Hoove’s sideproject Perfect Bitch (featuring some of the guys behind the scene at Silent Barn). Doors are at 8pm.
