Meet Jon, an apprentice at Crazy Monkey, a tattoo parlor on Broadway. He says it’s the first job he’s actually liked, as opposed to simply tolerated. It’s also the first one to potentially lead to a career. Before starting, he was unemployed for 8 months. It was a rough year for him — his marriage ended, his mom died, and then his cat. Rather than wallow, he took the time to focus on his music and band, Kronos Effect. Work doesn’t define you, Jon says, you define your work — stripped of work, he’s still Jon; his work now just helps enjoy life more.

Jon was my dispatcher for a summer in Manhattan. I’m so glad to have randomly come across this little video. So glad to know what you’re up to Jon and that you’re now tattooing! Still have Murderizer in my CD collection! Maybe next time I get to NY we’ll set up some needle time or something :-)
Gonna send Tanya this link too!
