ken_modeCanada’s KEN mode betray a subtle melodiousness under thick, rhythm-heavy distortion. It’s especially recommended for those who secretly like multi-minute jams between screams. Though their style is more in the hardcore punk range, their songs are given time to develop and wander a bit, showing progression rather than cutting off at the two-minute mark. They played a well-received show at Union Pool back in June after a six-year absence from the US, and apparently all but laid waste to Union Hall. The Acheron is pretty well equipped to handle that level of intensity, so the venue should still be standing after the show even if the audience isn’t.

KEN mode will be recording an album later this month in Massachusetts, with an as-yet undetermined early 2011 release on Profound Lore.

Main support tonight comes from Casavet, who just supported Alter of Plagues at the Studio at Webster Hall earlier this month. Their leanings are a little more towards art metal than the headliners, but the extended instrumentals make for a good fit in the line-up. Doors are at 7pm, tickets are $10.
