The Connecticut Post reports that state police received a tip that Diaz and Colon had a large amount of heroin for sale. The Narcotics Task Force arranged for a confidential informant to purchase the heroin at a Fairfield rest stop along highway I-95. Both men arrived in different cars but Diaz became suspicious and attempted to leave. Police stopped the duo and discovered a large box in Diaz’s car containing over 3 pounds of heroin packaged in 4,000 bags with an estimated street value of $60,000. The police seized both cars and $575 cash in the bust.

Both men were arraigned in Connecticut Superior Court on Monday and charged with multiple counts of possession and intent to sell charges along with multiple counts of intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school and conspiracy charges.  Judge Jane Emons set a high bond for the men due to the large volume of drugs seized in the arrest. Diaz was held in lieu of a $1 million bond and Colon was held in lieu of a $500,000 bond. They are scheduled to be back in court August 31st.

Sgt. Shawn Corey of the Connecticut State Police told News 12 Connecticut that "further arrests maybe pending as a result of these arrests."

The intent to sell charges alone carry a minimum 5-20 years imprisonment with a possible maximum term of life imprisonment. Diaz could face eviction from his apartment due to tougher drug rules in public housing.
