Bushwick Apartment Roundup 7/28/10

We’re looking at apartments in the $1200-$1400 range this week. They seem a bit expensive for “studios” but several are really just wide-open apartments with big square footage — great if you need space but can’t afford a legit loft. You can also check out the Bushwick Classifieds for more.

$1400 — studio “loft”: Often, $1400 for a studio (or, as they’re calling it: “loft”) might be a bit steep in this part of town. But this cookie-cutter sort of rowhouse looks to be in a well-maintained building has a full-time super and lots of amenities that make it worth at least a look: AC, laundry room, high speed internet, cable, dishwashers, and a huge shared backyard. Also, the way the kitchen is situated looks like it separates the layout in a way that basically gives you a living room and bedroom which can be a nice plus — or two bedrooms for roomies willing to spare a bit of privacy.

$1300 — 2br rr: The windows are wide, and the original, heavy wood frames and the small alcove are eye-catching. It looks to have all the problems inherent in any railroad style apartment, but it has decent floors and nice windows. Good location near most of the fun and tasty stuff in Bushwick.

$1300 — studio “loft”: This one has exposed brick and what look like well-maintained hardwood floors along with a nice looking kitchenette with stainless steel appliances. Windows on three sides look to let in a good deal of light, although it’s hard to tell which way they’re facing. Also hard to tell exactly what size this spot is, so, while there is a closet, it may be best for an organized someone who knows how to make good use of space.

$1399 — 1br loft: The layout of the living area may be a little awkward and attempts at relaxation may be interrupted by the nearby J train, but hey, you’ve got a separate bedroom and a jacuzzi tub, as well as access to a roof to even things out a bit. Plus the building has laundry. This seems to be a real loft in a former warehouse.

$1200 — studio “loft” or 1br: You’ll have a bit of a walk to the train, but the tradeoff is a fairly nice looking place in return. If the exposed brick, good looking hardwood floors and kitchenette aren’t enough for you, the private backyard looks like a nice gardening or landscaping project for the right person. And while the bathroom looks like it needs some cleaning up before a move-in, the owner is willing to build out a bedroom if you want it.

Thanks for posting the apartment. Why not cover some of the nicer, albeit more expensive, housing stock in Bushwick. It would give your readers a fuller understanding of what is out there and what Bushwick is. Perhaps you have and I have missed it. Bushwick apartment roundup/Special luxury edition.

I moved out of the stanhope building. Does not come with cable, or internet, the backyard is shared only with people on the ground level. The Super does NOTHING, and stole stuff from my apartment, and the landlord is a scam artist.
