Most bands are much more coy about mixing noise and melody compared to newcomers Procedure Club, straight outta the musical hotbed that is New Haven, CT. But the band, made up of a girl who only goes by “Andrea” and Polish emigré Adam Malec, mash volatile influences such as Black Tambourine and the always influential Jesus and Mary Chain with vocals that are two steps removed from Mary from High Places.
Following on from a few tapes and CDRs, they’ve put together their first “proper” album called Doomed Forever on the always fasionable Slumberland. Many bands of late have been doing the noisy lo-fi pop thing, but few place as much of the em-pha-sis on the noise part.
The music has been described as ranging from “pure synth pop of ‘Feel Sorry For Me’ to the overdriven swoon of ‘Dead Bird.’” They certainly do nail the post-ennui feel of the C86 compilation that they seem to aspire to.
