Good beats are a rare thing, good beats from compelling performers are rarer still. Aa basically takes what’s good about most dance tracks and plays it live instead of off a laptop. With three guys playing drums and one guy pushing buttons and singing, Aa plays complex, obviously rhythm-heavy creations that are less about dancing than they are about contorting your body to the beat.

If you’re looking for a good excuse to flail around a bit, Aa are playing Silent Barn Saturday night. Chat Logs (who are “curating”) are also on the bill, along with Sam Mickens’ Ecstatic Showband and Revue and Island’s Eyelids. Tickets are $10.
