Happy Bastille Day! We’re celebrating France’s national holiday today in our own way: with a track from Motico called “The French Revolution.”
Motico are a drum/guitar duo with a scratchy post-punk edge. Whoever provides the vocals has a great Hutch Harris-like yelp, which is very suitable for the call-to-arms nature of the song. Somewhere around the 1:30 mark an anti-guitar solo rips in and continues until it nearly causes physical discomfort. But your nerves will recover quickly.
And while the lyrics reflect a peasant uprising against an out-of-touch monarchy/aristocracy, they’re still quite topical for our disenchanted generation. Or maybe we’re projecting a bit. Either way, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more from Motico.
