The scene on Knickerbocker and Troutman yesterday morning, after a Mexican man was attacked by “delinquents.” — Photos by Jonathan Mena
Two assaults left three men injured Sunday morning in Bushwick and Ridgewood.
The blood on the street was still fresh as a police officer taped off a crime scene at the corner of Troutman St. and Knickerbocker Ave. on Sunday. A little before 9am, a man was assaulted in front of the Oaxaca bodega. A store employee said that "some delinquents hit the Mexican [man] on the head," but had no more information.

Several onlookers on the streets said they heard the commotion but did not have additional information. Police on the scene said 83rd Precinct detectives would be handling the case. An NYPD security camera is posted across the street from the crime scene but police have yet to release any info on the suspects or the condition of the victim.
Less than a mile away the same morning at Seneca Ave. and Bleeker St., the New York Post reports that 18-year-old Segundo Altamirano stabbed 22-year-old Angel Cuzco in the stomach outside of a Chinese take out restaurant. Another man, Juan Carlo Meza, tried to stop Altamirano but was slashed in the face and arm. Workers at the Chinese restaurant were not aware of the attack. An employee told BushwickBK she had opened the restaurant around 11am but saw no signs of the slashing. According to the Queens Ledger, Altamirano was arrested last October for criminal possession of a weapon in the same neighborhood. A source told the Post that the police caught Altamirano with the knife in his hand.

Agree with the guy above. This is how I left bushwick 10years ago. Hmmmm still the same. And people wonder why I won’t move back home. Things like this is why. Hope the innocent people (person) that didn’t deserve this is ok, if not at least the fam. And for those or that person who commited the crime get what they deserve.

Jasmin, I’ll guess that it feels good to justify whatever reasons you had for moving from Bushwick by flippantly pointing to an incident like this, but I want to at least say that Bushwick is not “still the same” as it was when you left 10 years ago. CompStat, for example, reports a decrease in crime here of over 40% in the past ten years, and over 60% less than what was registered 15 years ago. It’s still not the safest, and it’s deffinitely not for everyone, but crime happens everywhere and for many who have options in choosing a place to live, it’s one of the best!

My mom & aunt left in 1973 after hoodlums burned their childhood home down & fatally stabbed my uncle. This seems like so much random cake in comparison.

Crime is probably down overall, but don’t site Compstat … it’s a bunch of lies:
