News 12 reports a mother and father were hurt when their large aluminum yard awning collapsed as they cleared it of built-up snow, on Woodbine Street near Knickerbocker Avenue. They were rushed to the hospital with head and neck injuries.
The Dept. of Buildings fined the property for not having a permit for the awning, and for failure to maintain it.
The Weather Service warned yesterday that the weight of the wet, slushy snow that first fell could take down tree limbs, powerline, and even roofs. Thursday evening, a Brooklyn man was killed by a fallen limb in Central Park.
