What a gorgeous sunny morning! I don’t know about all of you, but I am ready for a weekend (or 5). Let’s make this one extra good.

Tonight is the first night of the second weekend of Pass Kontrol‘s smash hit play New Hope City at the Bushwick Starr. It’s mind-blowing & you best get your tickets in advance or show up early. I’ll see you there, Bushwick!!

STOREFRONT gallery has a big weekend, kicking off with their 3rd Thursdays literary events with readings by Ned O’Gorman and Paul Rome (who is amazing — go hear).

Friday, bundle up for an awesome night of gallery-hopping. Norte Maar presents their bi-annual event BACK THE BEAT: Bushwick Art Spaces Stay Open Late. Participating galleries include:

English Kills featuring Andy Piedilato: New Paintings
Centotto‘s Terrae and the Ether
Factory Fresh‘s Pufferella extravaganza (which I haven’t had a chance to visit but looks AWESOME from the street) and the Josh McCutchen Show
Famous Accountants‘s Randal Wilcox solo show, In My Secrecy I Was Real
STOREFRONT‘s fog walks: new sculpture by Norman Jabaut and a work by Robert Rauschenberg, and
Sugar‘s council bluff: David B. Frye + JJ Sulin.

Also on the art front, there’s a "Clopen Studio" at 1100 Broadway (the former home of the Bruce High Quality Foundation). "1100 Broadway has reemerged as a multidisciplinary art and music studio." Join them for an after hours "drink and dance" at Goodbye Blue Monday.

Saturday, the B-Cat and C-Town Show is back in BK with stand-up from the talented Rob Stern, dance antics from Cocoon, improv from MADCAR, sketch comedy by Pangea 3000 and music by Soltero. "Always free. Always with a dance party after — DJed by the fabulous DJ Perfect Pich and The Czech." (9PM. 114 Forrest Street, apt 4C — buzzer #15 to get in).

Numu Arts Collective presents: "…And Then I Ate It Anyway."  Bring a dish to share that has a story attached to it. Read a piece of writing, play a song, or just tell a funny anecdote about your favorite (or least favorite) dish.

Sunday, dance the winter blues away at Beauty Bar. The Rock and Soul Revue: DJ Bruce spins great 60s soul, 70s funk, and a healthy dose of rock and roll.

Tuesday is the last in the Bushwick Food Co-op’s Movie Nights at Tandem. They’ll be showing Food, Inc and serving popcorn, snacks and $3 beer specials!

Wednesday, head to the Kingdom Den for "two live sets of original music, the first from Scottish singer songwriter Anna K. Jarosz and the second from The Wylie Toms, a wonderfully original band playing a combination of western swing / bossa nova / salsa." Also: eat there — I heard the new menu (featuring some classics) is amaaaaaaay.
