New Year, new Culture Header! Big thanks to artist extraordinaire Kevin Regan — I love it!

This morning feels like a wonderful heat wave (e.g. I could walk 10 minutes to work without frostbite), but it seems that we’ve hit the dead of winter. Is it hibernation time, Bushwick? It seems like a pretty slow week (as compared to our usual bustling social scene). Hit me up in the comments with any additional events — so far, this is what I got.

Tonight, Silent Barn hosts Bonus Eventus, Shark?, Fluffy Lumbers. Once again — Silent Barn is totally there for you with shows every night for the next 4 nights.

Market Hotel is hopping all weekend as well, tonight the lineup is: Lucky Dragons, Zomes (Lungfish), Lichens (90 Day Men), Coelom (Axolotl), Driphouse.

Boogaloo Shampoo at Beauty Bar: "60′s Soul Dancing to the Magic 45s of New York Night Train’s Mr Jonathan Toubin."

Friday, Numu Arts Collective hosts their weekly Writers’ Group: "A work-shopping meeting of writers of all genres and styles."

House of Yes is hosting what sounds like a pretty big music/party situation: Thunder Gumbo III: Steal This Party featuring Hellfire Machina, Geko Jones, The Vox Illuminati, and Morphous (to name but a few).

Campo Formio plays Silent Barn.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS DJ sets from Duane Harriot, Pink Stallone, and Teengirl Fantasy at Market Hotel.

Saturday, JuiceTyme plays Silent Barn.

Lionshare, Banzai, Snuffy, and Basketball play Market Hotel.

Tandem has dance-y stuff happening in the back room and lovely toddies and other delights in the front (& don’t forget the kale).

Sunday, check out Moviehouse at 3rd Ward! It’s Live Video Music night: "We’re turning our screening room into a stage for a night of bad-ass beats, screaming guitars, and the city’s best video producers. Videos! Bands! Live Performances! Happiness!"

House of Yes hosts a re-do (bad weather the first time around) of a record release performance/party for Mickey Western‘s The American Way. "Featuring crazed country rave-ups, rocking odes to gambling and murder, plaintive ballads, and a steely, hard look back at How The West Was Won."

Wednesday, say goodbye to Ad Hoc Art’s Bogart Street location. "Come share space with the AHA community as we bid farewell to the 49 Bogart brick-and-mortar.  There will be smooth tunes, libations, and wonderful camaraderie. There will be some art nuggets, souvenirs, and AHA memorabilia to take away." Note: this will only happen if they’re all packed up & ready to go — I’ll pay attention and post an update in the comments. (7:30-11:30pm).

Lydia Bell, Jack Reilly & Dave Ruder will be performing new work round-robin style in the Kingdom Den.
