I took my mom (and her two best friends) to the Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway on Christmas Day. We played the slots with greed in our hearts for hours and proceeded to lose a few hundred dollars each. It’s a lot of money for any small group like ours to drop over an afternoon, but the loving smiles that poured out from her heart every time she pushed those “bet max” buttons are the priceless memories that last a lifetime.

Flew down to see my parents and brother, who came from Chicago, in Knoxville, TN. Visited with an old college friend and his wife and kids too. Christmas dinner was at parents house. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I also headed down to Knoxville. Drove, though, so I could take the dogs. Spent almost two weeks down south with a stint in Nashville to help my baby sister move into her new 2,800 square foot McMansion that cost like $1. Landed back in my shoe box yesterday…wheeee!
