Numu Arts Collective presents a workshop on Suminagashi: The Japanese Art of Marbled Papermaking. Keep an eye on them — they’ve got stuff happening like all the time.
Che la Ke presents Sarah Riley, Dave Treut, Candles of Paradise, and Brian Peck at Goodbye Blue Monday. “This is a night of imagination and inspiration.”
Friday, art madness weekend begins.
Maximum Perception Performance Festival is on at English Kills (both Friday and Saturday) featuring over 20 performances over 2 nights Friday and Saturday 7pm-midnight. “Come early since the first 20 people to show up get some whiskey to keep them warm. Of course the event is free, and also we’ll have a cheap bar.” Check the site for full details (there are a lot of them!)
Eastern District presents: “Fuchs Now: Rafael Fuchs’ personal survey of his latest work. He is presenting a few hundreds prints from a few of his latest projects, including ‘The Bushwick Yearbook,’ ‘I Am Amerikan,’ ‘Transgenders In Kansas City,’ ‘Nudes,’ and more, as well as some of his recent limited edition printed books and videos.” Opening 7-10pm.
Factory Fresh presents Fresh Geezers, welcoming The London Police and Galo as they return to New York to celebrate more than a decade in the game. Opening 7-10pm.
Really! is back at Tandem in the nick of time (girl’s gotta dance) for a huge X-MAS BASH featuring Special Guest DJ’s MeKaniKdolls, Deputy Jeff & resident dj Paleboy and (always hot) go-go dancers!
There is lots of trapeze-y circus-y performance to attend this weekend. Bushwick Starr presents The Montessori Circus Show (which I heard is AWESOME and selling out!) and the House of Yes hosts the Lady Circus Holiday Show.
Silent Barn and Market Hotel are fully stocked with bands, including Market Hotel’s weekly Mister Saturday night (on Saturday).
Saturday
3rd Ward is home again to the Handmade Holiday Craft Fair. It sounds totally awesome & I’m sure you’ll want everything you see.
The Bushwick Reading Series celebrates one year at the Bushwick Public Library with 4 special readings from 3-5.
Cream Studios hosts a Holiday Sale/Party (4pm-12am): “Come by early for the artist made Holiday sale, where all our artist have been toiling away to make some special handmade gifts at reasonable prices and then stay late to enjoy the holiday party” (Stop in when you visit Laundromat, which we’ll be getting to…

Nude with a Goose presents: “execution [,ɛksɪˈkjuːʃən] a multi-media exhibition to counter the idea that contemporary art presents the demise of technique, the execution of execution.” 1717 Troutman, 12-9PM.
Laundromat gallery hosts a one-day exhibition of works by Japanese artist Takayuki Kubota. “Kubota’s work explores a sense of time and history, and the relationship between fact and its representation. His work examines the relationships between symbolism and its implication, as well as images and narratives. He has developed his ideas in a series entitled “Journal”, “Music”, “Site”, and “Literature”. Each work records sounds on magnetic tape and then mounts the tape horizontally on wood panel.”
Norte Maar is home to a 2-day “spontaneous reaction” show curated by Elliot Lessing in response to Brooklyn Museum’s “Who Shot Rock n Roll.” “19th Nervous Breakdown is that hidden track, the bootleg, the alternate take and the coveted b-side as present by today’s most thrilling contemporary artists (West Coast + East Coast).”
DRWR Gallery is hosting an opening featuring the paintings of Graham Loper at 1254 Myrtle Avenue, between Dekalb and Bushwick Ave from 6-11.

Sunday
Go see all the art you couldn’t possibly make it to see at the openings & stop in at Famous Accountants from 1-6pm to see Drippy. It’s awesome.
Moviehouse is back on at 3rd Ward. “The show is equal parts video, performance, and Q&A as we introduce Rob Carter‘s latest stop-motion animation on the cityscape, followed by the multi-media performers at Zebra Crossing.”
Monday there’s Whiskey Business at BFP, which means $1 whiskey shots + DJs.
Tuesday BFP hosts Animal Party. Can’t really tell you what exactly it is…. Furries? Cake? Someone go & then tell me!
