Southside Bandit,

should we forget that the reason you have a job was because Reyna asked her then boss (Vito) to help you out cuz you weren't good enough to find your own damn job?

The purpose of an elected official is to help the members of it's community. Some members need more help than others, and these are the people that Vito has endlessly helped, he has worked to end this 'culture of silence' that Paulo Friere spoke about.

And of course, some of these people became ungrateful, some, mostly reyna's, used and abused Vito and Ridgewood Bushwick and are now bad-mouthing an elected official and an organization that has tirelessly and in a fair process helped out the Reyna's.

At the end of the day, the people shall know what is truly going on in our community, and begin to be informed about the democratic process and how to better their situation, and how to ensure that they aren't supportive of elected officials and policies that are forcing them out of their neighborhoods.

And I will ensure that this begins.

Thats B.S. Bobby, no matter who it was....whether it was Maritza, or Diana, who ever won the primary , was going to win the election. I wonder how many people would have voted for Diana if she was running on the WFP line, Try zero, she couldn't even get the endorsement. Who ever was running on the Democratic line was going to win. The people who voted for Diana voted for her because she was the listed democratic candidate. As for Hope Gadens, We Beat her worse ther on primary day then she beat us at the general election, actually by double, on Primary day Maritza won by 140 votes, at the general election the final numbers were 272 to 315 for Diana, So it wasn't at all the beating you claim it too be. I stood outside for 16 hours informing voters on what was actually taking place, and it was one of the proudest days of my life. I campaigned first hand with my mother for a year before that, and What she was able to accomplish during this election couldn't possibly be ignored, BUT YOUR RITE ABOUT 1 THING, nothing changes but the size of the pay check she recieve's as he plans to return to her respected role as Female District leader Stronger and as calculated as ever.

Very well said, Bobby!!
Also, if people really care then they will agree to move forward and continue making a difference within the aspects that need to be addressed in our community no matter what. So JJ continue the fight with your mother and let us continue seeing the work. If she really cares she will want to reach out to Diana and learn a thing or two from her so she has better understanding of what being a council member involves. I'm saying it very positively here, being realistic. Had your mother not been backed by Vito she would have never run any campaign on her own or gotten half the votes she got. And i'm not even undermining her work or anything like that. She may be working everyday and doing good stuff, but the Southside is a HUGE section and MANY people had never heard of her or ever seen her, really. I'm sensing a lot of bitterness here and that is exactly what holds us back, great neighborhoods and communities like ours bickering and missing the important bigger picture. This is a perfect example of what Vito wants people to focus on so we leave him working behind the scenes on his own ideas for his own people of interest. Vito has done good deeds, but for sure he does them thinking of how now he's got your vote for the next time. But fortunately it's beginning to backfire for Vito, people are getting informed and looking beyond what one person tells them. In the end JJ people knowing that Vito Lopez would be the one telling your mother what to do is probably what made her lose even more votes, what you think is one thing, what people out there know and think is what gets the votes. Those that do like Vito HIGHLY aren't really aware of the major issues and his corrupt ways, are brainwashed or are just like him..

JJ,

Are you the same son that stood outside of Hope Gardens poll site on election day ? If so, did you look at the numbers from Hope Gardens? Did you know that poll site you spent 16 hours was won by Diana Reyna. Voters saw you, connected with you and still voted for Diana Reyna, why? That was your turf, your friends , family members, long time supporters and still you lost that poll site for your mom on your own block. On another note, Can you explain why Martiza who is not catholic went to Spanish Mass every week at Transfiguration for two months, and then didn't go last week, of course the election is over why pretend to be Catholic, is that about right...even further if you read Aaron blog post he look into the condo issue and determined it to be a investment home and that Diana still lives in the District. You lost by over 4,000 votes you had steve levin, Martin Dilan , Vito Lopez, and still loss...people could have voted for every citywide candidate that won in the WFP line. Mayor bloomberg wasn't on either line so he didn't effect this race.

Southside bandit, I was at that debate, Thanks for the recap coming from someone who doesn't know what there talking about. She knew exactly where the Southside was, she was comparing the difference's in the personalities and ethnicity's that divided the district, and vocalizing how uniting them was imperative for the future of the district. I bet you didn't even give her the chance to finish her sentence before you came to that swift conclusion that she didn't know about the ''appropriate'' title's of the community she grew up in. Diana Reyna would have never been councilwomen if it weren't for the backing of what you call the ''democratic machine, and if she doesn't live in the district, she can't attack the issues as well as someone who does. Can the next person that comments in the form of these post pleaseeee know what there Talking abouutt ??????? pleaseee !!

She lost better than Diana won...give me a break JJ...she still lost. She lost because Diana was/is the better choice...did you see her in the Brooklyn 12 News debate, sorry dude...your mother was horrible at that debate. She didn't have command of the issues and she didn't say or emphasize why she would be a better choice than Diana. Also, if she doesn't even recognize that the South Side is apart of Williamsburg, why should have I voted for her. She was totally unprepared for it and you could tell by the deer in the head lights look every time they asked her a question...why would I want somebody like that representing me in the city council. In any case getting back to your point, Diana did not have the backing of the Democratic machine. She ran that campaign by herself with volunteers who believe in her, not paid cronies who are looking for handouts from Vito. Considering the odds against her she won, no matter the numbers. Also Katie...who cares where she lives...she working for us and I know that's Vito vacation home on LI, on second thought why don't you ask Angela (not Vito's wife) where Vito lives. I'm sure the NY Times, NY Post and everyone else would like to know too. Ciao and have a lovely day ;)

The raise in salary was due to mayor Blooomberg wanting to give a raise to his commissioners. Therefore, if you give them a raise you have to give the council a raise as well. You can address that to our beloved mayor: machael bloomberg!

Professional Alternative....My Mother is not a ''ho'' ....and I am not nearly as much a delinquent as you are a coward. As the son of our 34th district female leader...It is so hurtful to read the distgusting things you people say about my mother. You say that ''At least Diana was corrupt in Style''?? As if your the kind of individual that could point out a person with some level of class. You should change your name, as your comments were far from professional.

Theres a saying and it goes like this….”If its an eye for an eye, We all go blind. Theres no sence into getting that deep into either of the candidates alleged personal history. Ignorance is bliss. There is a whole generation of young voters out there looking to read in and about the candidates and the districts issues. Only to read into the Maritza Davila/Diana Reyna Roast. It makes for a good side show if your someone who doesn’t reside within the district, but a painful reality of how much work that still needs to be done here. Respectfully speaking, Diana Reyna has not accomplished anything substancial enough to consider her for an extra 4 years at council. Except take credit for the accomplishments and efforts of Kings County Democratic Chairman Vito Lopez. As I feel this election was not about him ”to me” at least being a constitual voter of the 34th district, and the Proud son of the real democratic and working family’s party candidate Maritza Davila. Over coming adversity is what life is all about, Diana Reyna could never say she has more often then Maritza Davila.

Ms. Nice whatever” -You condecendingly write that my mother apparently has had quite a few noticable mishaps along the way” ????,

Well who hasn’t along the way ???….Diana Reyna ?? I don’t think so. To make the assumption that because Diana has children from the same man that she’s the better candidate is ridiculous. How does that help Diana address any of the issues any better then Maritza ??..It doesn’t. Id vote for Maritza, Cause she could actually vote for herself. As she still resides and always has in the district she respresents. That is something that Diana Reyna could never say from Glendale, Unless that is she was voting for herself to extend term limits and increase her salary. A race that the constituants of district she allegedly represents never had a chance to vote in. Im sorry, Im a democrat, not a communist. I was insulted that I could not have a say in the issue. Why didn’t Diana run for a Higher seat after serving her 8 years at council ?…. If she were as gutsy and honorable as the new york times made her out to be ??? Take John Lui for example. He served his 8 years and voted against extending term limits, decided to run for comptroller, and won. Thats gutsy, but whats done is done- Its sad but true in saying that it is the mis-informed voters within the district who will lose the most from this race. They fed into the good cop / bad cop storyline of our political leaders within the area, It was the Voters that came out to vote for the higher seats such as Major that won this election for Diana Reyna. It was the voters that didn’t have the slightest clue as to who she was, all they knew was that she was on the Democratic line. For many reasons Im not suprised that so many voters had no Idea who she was, and that is embarressing as an 8 year incumbnant. In closing, Id like to say Thank you too any and all of you that came out to vote for your candidate of choice. Time will show us truth, and either validate our voice’s or enlighten them. In any event-what everyone will always remember about this race is How much Maritza Davila Lost.’BETTER’.Then Diana Reyna won. This is only the begining for her
