It’s been nearly three months since he got thrown out of his apartment at 889 Broadway, and though he remains without a home, Eric Cohen’s been moving on with career by collaborating on a show for movie geeks.
Dubbed The Cinefiles, the show hosts passionate discussions between four film buffs about everything from terribly disappointing Star Wars prequels to Oscar award controversies, focusing on questions like, “When it comes to Best Picture, do you think it was a bigger crime that Forrest Gump beat out Pulp Fiction than Dances with Wolves beating out Goodfellas?”
Originally aired as a cable access program on MNN, the show’s episodes are now available on YouTube, where it’s quickly developing a cult following, Cohen said. After all, the show’s stars did meet when they were game show contestants for IFC’s "Ultimate Film Fanatic." But most importantly, several episodes were filmed in Bushwick’s shrine to the Comic Gods, Gotham City Lounge, as well as in Cohen’s former apartment … which looks nice on camera, despite its alleged uninhabitability.

Thanks for the shout out, Diego.
And, yeah, we’re still homeless. On one hand things seem to be progessing but on the other… been really frustrating.
Yeah, the issue was never that the building was “inhabitable.” It had to do with code violations (that arguably have no effect on the safety of the tenants with the possible exception of the violation of the “two points of egress” rule). And the fact the building was illegally converted.
