It’s going to be a helluva time getting around the city between Friday and Sunday as extensive subway repairs will cause delays on 17 of the 20 lines that operate on weekends.
Basically, this apocalypse of mass transit will affect every line expect the M train (Woo-hoo?). Here in Bushwick, Chambers Street bound J trains will skip Flushing Ave, Lorimer and Hewes Streets and the New York Post smugly reports, “hipsters beware: L trains will skip every stop between Lorimer Street and Myrtle-Wyckoff avenues over the weekend.” Regular L train riders, which mostly consist of non-hipsters, will have to take a shuttle instead.
An MTA spokeswoman says there will be more weekend diversions than usual because contractors have to finish outdoor work before it gets too cold. Major projects include repairs to tunnel lighting, replacing switching systems and fixing up stations and tracks.
For a full description of all line changes this weekend, visit the MTA service advisory web site.

Tip: y’all can go to straphangers.org and sign up for e-mail alerts about service disruptions.
Yeah, umm most of the hipsters live no more than two stops out, right, so the shuttle bus diversions don’t affect them, and the ones this far out will be too drunk to take the bus, so they just waste their money on car services.

Thanky for the heads up. Saved me a major ache on both ends (yowza!) as far as the Nonsense NY 10 party tonight goes!

Wife and I are convinced that the MTA is intentionally messing up service before the mayoral election to help skew voters towards Doomburg with his “Fix the MTA” promise… Funny part about that campaign promise is: HE HAD 8 YEARS to take on the MTA and did NOTHING.

This shit with the L train has been going on for more than ten years. I’ve now become a victim of the psychology of previous investment: I’ve put up with the construction mess on the line for so long that I’m loathe to move away from it at this point in hopes that they’ll finish one day soon. In short, the fckr better levitate on the track within the next two years!
