The Times says primary runoff turnout is negligible, a fact confirmed by a visit to the IS 111 polling location on Starr Street and Central Avenue. Workers sat chatting, and though signs pointed to the poll entrance, no voters were in sight. I guess nobody cares who wins for comptroller… whatever that is.

From what I understand, comptroller is just a bizarre name for an auditor. When I moved here last month, comptroller campaign ads were everyone on the airwaves and I was thinking the same thing — what the eff is a comptroller? It doesn’t surprise me that no one cares who gets elected to an office with such an esoteric name. They should call it something like, ‘the guy who makes sure your local tax dollars aren’t lost or wasted’.
