This pretty brick home (center brick house in the photo) — a two-family “being used as” a three — has just been dropped $100,000. The interiors got that circa-2006 pinkish ceramic bath/Home Depot kitchen slapjob renovation that had been so popular with flippers in the bubble, but the price makes anything look more attractive. One could certainly fix these aesthetic problems over time, especially with two other apartments to rent out for income. The area is rough, but architecturally interesting, peppered with brownstones and the occasional detached home, and isn’t too far out in the neighborhood — it’s convenient enough to basics shopping and food.

it’s funny you can see a tiny part of my house on the very right in the picture. i hope somebody decent buys this house. the price is absolutely insane. everyone else i know in the surrounding blocks paid way more than that. the area has potential and we are having the city install new streetlights on that exact block to increase safety.
in terms of people…besides us on the corner, the neighbors sandwiching the house are yr dream neighbors without a doubt. they will lend you tools, knock on yr door to repark yr car if you forget, sweep yr sidewalk when yr away, basically, help you out any way they can and are involved in the community. there once was a neighborhood block association on greene that has fallen apart but if you care, you will have no trouble organizing the area. also, the folks in the houses across the street are wonderful as well.
in terms of food, it is slowly getting better. the grocery store is three blocks away and is now stocked with all kinds of organic milk, eggs, yogurt, veggies, and fancy beer and hummus. athom cafe is a yummy homemade heaven.
this is definitely just an fyi for someone who is actually looking to buy the place and is wanting the scoop from another homeonwner around the corner.
best,
sophia

oh sorry i haven’t checked this…it is equal distance give or take a few blocks between gates J and Kosziusko J and Central M. parking is pretty average. my next door neighbors do fine when i see them repark. better than my old part of williamsburg…the area is getting safer and safer. i ahve never had a problem personally but i have a kid and i only go out once in a blue moon. i do get woken up by drunk college students coming home sometimes at four in the morning, so they seem fine with it. i have walked home super late with friends from flushing ave. if i was very wasted i would probably get a car. the neighbors on the block watch out for each other and are amazing.

Does anyone know who’s selling this place? I’d love to check it out. Thanks!
