Brrrrr! It’s the perfect weekend to bust out the jeans ‘n’ boots (vintage, obvs — OR from the future), hit up Urban Jungle for some new cardigans or perhaps a plaid and party to stay warm. Luckily, it can be a locally-sourced weekend, kids.

Tonight, visit the opening of Factory Fresh‘s only solo show this year: Tim Kent: All That is Solid Melts Into the Air.

Go indulge that circuit-bending passion you’ve been putting off at 3rd Ward’s Handmade Music Night: “This month, our featured guest is sound artist and 3rd Ward faculty member Amanda Ervin.”

Rocky Philly continues at the Bushwick Starr all weekend — I hear it’s really great — go see for yourselves!

Friday, pick a party….or go to them ALL.

If you’re sticking to Morgantown, there’s a big loft party/show on Forrest Street featuring: Doug Gillard Electric, The Library is On Fire, The Cinnamon Band and DJ jamz (check the BBK Culture Calendar for details).

Across town is hopping too: huge party/benefit at Refuge off the Halsey L for 123 Community Space. Featuring: Murdertronics, Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Radical Outing, Whack! (“infinitely danceable accordian punx”), Natti Vogel, Night Spitter NYC, DJ Tony Tantrum, 3 King Sound System and Daniel Lion-I. Wow.

Bigtime burlesque show at the Beauty Bar on Broadway: “Five hot mamas will blow your mind with their 70s-style burlesque and groovy go-going all night long.” Sounds sexy.

Bushwick Music Studios has more bands for ya, including Gunfight! and Kittens Ablaze. Also check out their DUBWICK dubstep party on Saturday.

Market Hotel hosts: Trevor Dunn’s MadLove (of Mr Bungle, Fantomas), Miho Hitori and Javelin.

Saturday, “living room galleryThe Laudromat presents a one-day show: “an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Liz Atzberger and photographs by Takashi Matsumoto. Both artists take natural phenomena, pattern, and repetition as starting point in their work.”

Also on the art front, at 1717 Troutman: “Quizotic is a group exhibition of over forty artists all connected by several degrees of social separation. The (multi-media) works are installed systematically, their locations based on the participants answers to a short quiz. Quiz questions were found and were chosen to isolate and honor authorial concerns and create useful subtexts within this eclectic mix, as well as obviate the need for curatorial input.” You know how I appreciate high concept shows.

On the agenda after dark: a may-jah roof party/band situation at RiotMachine on a roof on Cook Street, featuring My Sister in 1994, Wounded Bufalo Theory and Telecopy, as well as cheap beer, live DJ sets and views.

Silent Barn is hosting a Rosh Hashana party (bands tba)! “Apples and Honey, y’all!” One can only imagine…..

Monday, Moviehouse will be having an event: Check the calendar for details as they become available.

Tuesday, back on Knickerbocker for your Tuesday pleasure: The Hank Schwarzkopf and Peanut Butter Baby Show @ the 280 Cafe and Lounge. Free Beer 7-8, show to shortly follow.
