Holy crap it’s September… AND Mercury is in retrograde. Since the 1st earlier this week, Gmail crashed, we had some major server issues (thank you for your patience), and all manner of ridiculousness has ensued on myself and my friends (including but not limited to: plumbing disasters, work crises, misconstrued text messages, crossed gchats and dumb tickets for momentary sidewalk biking). I’ve been told that we all have to just get through this month, so we may as well do it in style!

Tonight, attend Lumenhouse’s opening reception for Urban Biotic, featuring gorgeous work by Deborah Brown, among others.

Buffie Roseanne is taking over the NK Den with an acoustic night featuring her amazing vocal stylings as well as M. Lamar and Soft Black.

Friday, lotso music options at Silent Barn, Bushwick Music Studios and Goodbye Blue Monday — which incidentally has a shitload of music for you all weekend long — including a Labor Day music BBQ situation.

Saturday, celebrate this fine fall with a Back to School art/music/dj/opening/release party with Verbal Graffiti at the Old Red School House.

Surreal Estate is having a big party thing featuring: Live Hip Hop, Riot Folk, Moroccan Music and fire dancing by Anna (not this Anna).

If you’re feelin’ like a venture out of the hood, there’s the absolutely fab-sounding Governors Island Art Fair and also an unbirthday party for At-Large Magazine in W-Burg.
